Kidney disease with IgA nephropathy is chronic. It can result in end-stage renal disease
and progresses for 10 to 20 years. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) protein buildup in kidney
filters (glomeruli) is the root cause of it. Normally, these glomeruli remove waste and
extra water from the blood and transfer the filtered blood to the bladder as urine. IgA
protein, however, bypasses this filtering procedure.
